Nicknamed ‘PDRN’ for short, polydeoxyribonucleotide refers to the DNA fragments found in salmon cells, used as an ingredient in skincare to boost plumpness, smoothness and overall skin radiance. Popular in Korean cosmetics, PDRN helps stimulate skin cells, promote damage repair and increase collagen production; targeting a range of skin concerns from early signs of aging, to enlarged pores and breakout scarring.

To pack even more of a punch, PDRN is commonly delivered via cosmetic injectable procedures, also known as REJURAN treatments. Expectedly, however, PDRN via injectables can cause pain, discomfort and skin sensitivity, and requires considerable downtime post-procedure. Not to mention, PDRN is sourced from salmon and is therefore animal-based; limiting those who opt for vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics. This is why we sought to discover our own plant-based PDRN alternative, still with the capabilities of enhancing skin elasticity and glow – minus the salmon and minus the sensitivity.


How exactly did we do it? We studied and extracted a DNA component from the fermented lactic acid bacteria found in our very own Jeju-grown Green Tea.
